Old Rock House Launches the “Listening Room Series”

The Old Rock House is pleased to announce the launch of the Listening Room Series.  This unique concept to St. Louis will see the Old Rock House transformed to a cabaret-style venue, designed to insure that concertgoers get the most intimate, upscale, and comfortable experience possible.

The Listening Room Series will feature 80 reserved “VIP” seats, none more than 15 paces from the stage.  Guests who purchase these tickets will enjoy a private entrance, cabaret-style seating around tables, expanded dining and drinking options, and a VIP hostess to cater to their needs.  There will also be 180 general admission tickets available for each performance in this series, of which approximately 25% will be standing room only.

Co-owner and talent buyer Tim Weber believes this will allow the venue to be more versatile and open the door to new opportunities.  “At their core, concert halls are gathering places.  People don’t just watch a band- they share an experience.  Our job as concert promoters is to create the best possible environment to let that experience happen- and this special series is our attempt at doing just that.”

Co-owner Dan Schmitt agrees.  “In 2009 the NFL blacked out three times as many games as they ever have in their history (due to games not selling out),” Schmitt said.  “Is the economy to blame?  Partly.  But the larger culprit is that the home experience of watching a football game has improved exponentially, while the live experience has remained basically unchanged.  The Old Rock House wants to make sure the same doesn’t happen with the live music experience.”

The Old Rock House is pleased to announce the first round of Listening Room Series shows: Chris Duarte Trio (November 7th), Loudon Wainwright III (November 22nd), Hot Buttered Rum & The Lee Boys (December 1st), & Colin Hay (May 4, 2011).

Watched Bill Frizell and his quartet last night (12 May 2011) and liked it a lot. The setting was exceptionally good, nice quiet intimate. Keep up the good work. Thanks a lot. Jack Decoteau

I’ve been a long time fan of Jonathon Edwards. I loved his early songs, and was thrilled when I had kids and found his childrens CD. Also, his pairing up with The Seldom Scene–another favorite band.
I would love to see him at the Old Rock House.
Thanks,

I recently saw Vienna Teng and your Listening Room Series stage/seating setup was phenomenal. The experience was totally worth the ticket price, and I’ll be looking to attend any of your future Listening Room Series shows.
