Hi all-
I suppose Guns ‘N Roses is finally off the hook for the most notorious concert incident in St. Louis history. It’s all about the Kings of Leon pigeon poop catastrophe from here on in. Seriously, that is an amazing story, right? I will say this, I promoted several Kings of Leon shows back before they were rock stars and always remember them being very easy to deal with. But that was before they were rock stars- and they were indoor concerts.
OK, on to better things- Another week of exciting concert announcements for the ORH. Ed Kowalczyk of Live is coming in September. The legendary David Bromberg is stopping by in October. Bromberg is best described as a “musicians musician.” This guy can do it all, and do it all extremely well. I think he tours literally once a decade, so this is a can’t miss show. Other announcements include Gaelic Storm, The Felice Brothers, Trampled By Turtles, Perpetual Groove, The Original Wailers (this is a brand new announement, the show is on 8/29, more details to come) Elmwood and Lights Over Paris.
The Old Rock House is also very excited to be taking part in the first annual St. Louis Blues Week. As a matter fact, we are doing a heck of a lot more than just taking part. It is our great honor to be hosting the finale of this great week- the Blues Awards- on September 5. The whole features some amazing chances to learn about and breathe in our city’s great heritage in blues music. Be sure to say thanks to our friends Dave Beardsley at StlBlues.net and John May at the Blues Society for putting together this wonderful festival.
Oh, and remember to buy your Little Feat tickets soon. This is a reserved seating event, so it is best to buy early- and to be quite honest, they are selling like hotcakes. The Sheldon seats about 500 on the orchestra level and another 200 at the balcony level.
