Celebrating its sixth year fostering the rich folk tradition of giving and openness and propelled by an innate need to tell a story in its naked acoustic state, 2013′s edition of The Revival Tour will kick off in March, featuring Dave Hause of Loved Ones, Rise Against frontman Tim McIlrath, Americana singer/songwriter and original tour organizer Chuck Ragan, Seattle-based singer/songwriter Rocky Votolato with additional artists to be announced. Starting its five-week trek around the US in Corpus Christi on March 15th, The Revival Tour will bring the much-celebrated camaraderie that it’s based on and the collaborations that are bred from its essence. “We’re proud to say that we’re embarking on the 6th year of The Revival Tour and we’re honored to be kicking off in the great state of Texas,” said Ragan. ”I’ve always been overwhelmed and inspired at how these collaborations and combinations of artists come together tour after tour.”
Loosely structured in the form of old-fashioned folk musician get-togethers, The Revival Tour is an ensemble collective in which the participating musicians collaborate and jam, frequently creating unique and inspired once-in-a-lifetime moments of brilliance – often multiple times in a single night. “Being a part of The Revival Tour last year in Europe was definitely one of the best tour experiences I’ve ever had,” says Votolato. “It reminded me of why I got into playing music in the first place. The spirit of collaboration, humility, and camaraderie keeps the shows feeling real and immediate every night. Chuck Ragan’s work ethic and passion for what he’s doing are inspiring and I’m honored to have the chance to share the stage with him again on this upcoming run of shows!”
“After crashing the Revival party in Chicago last year, I saw how much fun those dudes were having. I jumped at the chance to be a part of this year’s Revival, I can’t wait,” adds McIlrath who joins this year’s outing on the second half of dates. Hause contributes, “It’s no secret, I love The Revival Tour. I’m honored to be a part of it again here in the US, and I can’t wait to get out there and play with all the great folks Chuck has invited to this year’s festivities. Treat yourself to a ticket.”
A special pre-sale will begin at 10am PST on Friday, January 11th. Each general admission ticket will be accompanied by an instant download for The 2013 Revival Tour Sampler, which includes a track from each of the artists.
The critically-hailed tour has hosted Tim Barry (Avail), Ben Nichols (Lucero), Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!), Brian Fallon (Gaslight Anthem), Jim Ward (Sparta), Kevin Seconds (7 Seconds), Audra Mae, and Frank Turner among many diverse and exciting cast of collaborators. The Los Angeles Times hailed, “the vitality of this tour is in the camaraderie -everyone takes turns up front and in support of one another, and the group pairings often make for some unexpectedly moving collaborations.” BrooklynVegan chimed, “In traditional revival fashion, once the music starts this new guard of young, genre-defying, musicians keep it rolling, teaming in and out through each other’s sets until the final farewell of the night.”
“I’m looking forward to seeing and hearing yet another year of Revival and catching another incredibly unique view of what’s happening within today’s rising folk, Americana and independent music community,” concludes Ragan. “Not to mention witnessing the joining of strangers from around the globe of all ages that unite to walk away and carry on as life-long friends.”
