PHILLIPALOOZA 2025: Night 1
Friday, December 05
Doors: 5:30 pm // Show: 6:30 pm

The beloved two-night holiday season tradition is returning! The Old Rock House is thrilled to host Phillipalooza 2025, marking the 19th anniversary of this fantastic local music festival and fundraiser. Join us on Friday, December 5th and Saturday, December 6th for two distinct nights showcasing a diverse and exciting lineup of local talent. With unique acts each evening, there truly is something for everyone to enjoy at Phillipalooza! Beyond the incredible music, we’ll be raising funds with a silent auction, exciting raffle prizes, and a 50/50 raffle held each night.

Phillipalooza is held in loving memory of Phillip Wright, the father of local musician Phil Wright. Phillip lost his battle with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease) in 2006, and a portion of the proceeds from the show will go to support the ALS Association as we honor his memory.

Come celebrate the season, enjoy great music, and support a vital cause!

The "second line" has its roots in the traditional jazz funeral processions of New Orleans. Once the dearly departed was buried, the brass band would "cut the body loose" by playing uptempo, joyous music. As they marched, they would be joined by revelers who formed a line alongside and behind the band. This was known as the "second line."

The Funky Butt Brass Band was created in 2008 by six musicians who respect and revere the New Orleans brass band tradition. Made up of members of Gumbohead, The Feed, Musica Slesa, Bob Kuban's Everyday People and other St. Louis musical groups, the FBBB brings traditional New Orleans brass tunes and gives them a funky new flavor, in the style of the Dirty Dozen or Rebirth Brass Band. Don't be surprised if you also hear a little Motown, Southern rock, blues and some straight-ahead '70s funk. The Funky Butt Brass Band is guaranteed to get your toes tapping, your feet marching and kick any party into overdrive.
The Grooveliner was formed in February 2015 with the idea of keeping all the avenues of creativity open by not labeling themselves as a genre-specific group. Instead, The Grooveliner brings everything to the table with one consistent theme, IT MUST GROOVE! With their current focus on Funk/Latin/Rock/Soul, The Grooveliner is comprised of six seasoned (funky/salty/sweet) St. Louis musicians with different personal and musical backgrounds. Their goal is to be as musically diverse as the people that make up the great city of St. Louis. So give them your ear and let The Grooveliner take you on a musical journey unlike any other.
